Government health and safety at work act covered asbestos workers
It was not until 1974, that the British government passed the health and safety at work act. This then provided the legislation which protected the at that time 8 million plus workers who were previously outside of the current legislation. This act meant that the employer had to in cage in several duties, one of which was the maintenance of safe working conditions and also for implementing several environmental controls of any noxious substances that were being used within the factory. Additionally, customers had to receive relevant warnings on products that were deemed to be possibly dangerous. Now, the emphasis is on Asbestos removal, as very little asbestos is being manufactured nowadays.
