Faith is essentially dogma based on circular reasoning

Faith is essentially dogma based on circular reasoning.  The argument goes something like this: I believe X is true; therefore X is true.  The skeptic might readily reply that you believe X is true simply because you want X to be true.  Therefore, faith being of not much use, the answer to the big question (i.e. like how’d we get here, man?)  should be based not on faith, but on logic.  Unfortunately, logic does not produce satisfactory results either.

Essentially there are only two diametrically opposed theories for answering the big question:

Theory A: God created the universe.

Theory B: Nobody created the universe; it happened by accident.

Theoretically, there are two other logically conceivable hypotheses:

Theory C: Somebody other than God created the universe.

Theory D: Nobody created the universe; it doesn’t really exist.

Now arguably we can quickly dispense with theories C and D.  To posit that somebody other than God created the universe is a cynical diversionary ploy which could only be advocated by a hypocrite claiming to be an atheist, but consciously not really being one, patently motivated only be self-aggrandizement and a desire to draw attention to himself.  It is a thinly disguised self-contradictory semantic ploy to posit that somebody other than God created the universe, since the defining characteristic of God is that He’s the guy who created the universe.  It follows that if God didn=t create the universe, and someone else did, that the someone else who created the universe is himself God.  This is tantamount to saying: AGod didn’t create the universe; God did. As I say, patently self-contradictory.  The only possible reconciliation of this paradox would be to argue that somebody created the universe, and then subsequently ceased to exist. In other words, the creator of the universe possessed one of the defining characteristics of God, i.e, creator of the universe, but lacked the other defining characteristic – immortality.
