You should never kidnap your child

One of the most frightening experiences during a child custody case is when the noncustodial parent decides to take the child away, often to another state, without the custodial parent’s knowledge. This upsets the custodial parent because they might initially believe that a child molester has taken their child. Another unfortunate result is that the noncustodial parent has broken the law and can end up in jail for kidnapping their child. Parents must really think through their emotions and not act irrationally in trying to resolve child custody situations. Even if the parent believes that the custodial parent is mistreating the child, kidnapping does not resolve the issue.
