My mother has diabetes, and she recently lost her leg due to complications. Diabetes can be prevented. Diabetes can also be controlled. Diabetes can also cause serious complications. It just depends on what you do to prevent it, how you treat it, and how well you manage it. It basically depends on the lifestyle that you lead.
