As a Woman over 40 Used to Wearing Heels, What Can I do to Reduce Pain in the Calves?

Women who wear heels as a habit probably suffer from pain in the calves caused by shortening and tightening of the muscles in that region. A calf stretching exercise for women over 40 can help reduce pain and prevent Achilles tendonitis and calf tears. Stand in front of a chair with feet shoulder-width apart and your hands grabbing the chair. Lean forward onto the chair while keeping your feet flat on the floor and knees straight. You will immediately feel your calf muscles being stretched. After holding the stretch for 30 seconds, bend your knees and keep on leaning. Hold for another 30 seconds and repeat the cycle 4 times.
