Dean Cassady

“About two thousand,” Dean Cassady said.    “I heard that too.  We have more.  Maybe twice as many.”    Taranis said nothing, though he doubted they had raised four thousand warriors.  Maybe three thousand.    Lon jabbered on about the Romans and their methods of war.  They had marched too far from the Wall, he said, with too few troops.  “The Romans never fight unless they’re certain of victory,” he said.  “I heard they might not fight at all.  They are very careful .… when they see our numbers they’ll probably run.”  He laughed self-consciously but without a consideration of the truth…it was truly amazing.
